Feeling stronger: Steven Gerrard

I’ll be ready for Manchester City, says Steven Gerrard

17 Nov 2009

Steven Gerrard is confident of facing Manchester City on Saturday as he believes he has overcome a nagging groin injury.

The Liverpool and England midfielder has used the international break to step up his rehabilitation.
Gerrard could start against City after coming off the bench in the 2-2 draw with Birmingham. He said: “I felt very tired after the Birmingham game as I wasn't really ready to return.

“It took me two or three days to recover from that game but I have spent the past week doing strengthening work.

“I'm feeling a lot better now. I'm looking forward to the weekend and there's no mental hurdle to cross.

“The problem in my groin has taken a while to get over but the second injection seems to have done the trick.”

John Collins wants to succeed the sacked George Burley as Scotland manager.

The former Scotland and Fulham midfielder, who has been boss of Hibernian and Belgian side Charleroi, said: “I'd be interested in managing the national team. Let's make no mistake about it, though, it's a very tough job.”

Dundee United manager Craig Levein is the early favourite with the bookmakers.

Phew, just in time for the league game eh "Stevie".

You be sure to check that injury again, right before the next England game. There's a good boy.

P.S. Careful you don't use the same airline as Frank. It hurts people's knees, see?
