Fulham winger Simon Davies knows he will have to make an immediate impact if he returns from injury at Birmingham City tomorrow.

Davies has struggled to recover fully from a foot operation undertaken towards the end of last season. In his absence, Fulham have signed midfielders Damien Duff, Jonathan Greening and Bjorn Helge Riise, meaning the Wales international faces a fight to regain his place in Roy Hodgson's side.

Davies, who is hoping for at least a call to the bench at St Andrew's, said: "I'm going to have to hit the ground running if I get my chance. It's been a frustrating six or seven months but looking at the positives, I had a three-or four-year spell of being injury free when I hardly missed a game. Maybe after this I can go another three or four years injury free."

Fulham may also welcome back captain Danny Murphy from a leg injury but striker Diomansy Kamara is a doubt with an ankle complaint.

Birmingham will be without long-term absentees Garry O'Connor, Martin Taylor and David Murphy.
