Brede Hangeland set to sign new deal with Fulham

Brede Hangeland is ready to end months of talks by extending his contract with Fulham until 2012.

The Norway centre-half was relatively unknown when, in January 2008, he moved from Danish side Copenhagen to rejoin Roy Hodgson, who had been his manager at Norwegian club Viking FK.

His imposing presence alongside Aaron Hughes at the heart of Fulham's defence has drawn interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City. But it is understood the 6ft 6ins player is now finally set to commit himself to Fulham once the last few minor details of a new deal have been ironed out.

Striker Andy Johnson has returned to training after being out for five weeks with a groin complaint.
