Gunner Jay Simpson is ready for a call to arms

JAY SIMPSON hopes that his loan spell at Queens Park Rangers is going well enough to prove he is worthy of a future at Arsenal, writes Ben Hunt.

The Gunners are in the midst of an injury crisis with Dutch striker Robin van Persie out injured for five months and Nicklas Bendtner still on the treatment table.

Simpson, 20, is on loan at Loftus Road until the end of the season but has a recall option, and took his tally to eight goals in 14 starts for Rangers in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Coventry.

He said: "I want to score goals at the highest level and I believe I can do that. I know Arsenal send someone to watch all my home games and they keep copies of my performances. Even with the injuries, though, I don't know what position I'd be in if I went back.

"Scoring obviously can't have done my chances any harm and I'm still really close with the young guys at Arsenal."

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock fears Premier League predators are poised to swoop for winger Victor Moses.

The 18-year-old got the Eagles off to a flier with a goal after just two minutes and then turned in a man-of-the-match display to see off woeful Watford as Alan Lee and Darren Ambrose completed a 3-0 win at Selhurst Park.

Warnock said: "There was interest in the summer but they wouldn't take the gamble.

"People have doubts about his temperament but I think he'll blossom the higher he goes."

Watford's Danny Graham had a penalty saved by Julian Speroni, and manager Malky Mackay said: "Palace may not be able to spend big on players, like us, but if you looked at their team they had played a lot more games than my lads at this level."

Can't understand why Jay Simpson wasn't recalled when Nicklas Bendtner was injured,at least give him a try or I can see him signing and doing a good job for someone else in the premier league.
