Sergio Aguero admits he may leave Atletico Madrid

1 Dec 2009

Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has acknowledged he may be leaving Atletico Madrid in the summer.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for the player who scored against them in the Champions League last month.

The 21-year-old Argentinian is one of the players being talked about as a possible big-money signing for the Barclays Premier League team during the January transfer window, with Michael Essien, Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and John Obi Mikel leaving the Blues on African Nations Cup duty.

However, while repeating his intention to stay with the Spanish club for the remainder of the season, Aguero does not have a clear picture of where he will be beyond then.

He explained: "I've always told the club that from now until June I'll stay here.

"Then we will see what they do. If in June the club still need money there are ways to help.

"This (Madrid) is my home but if the club have to sell me I must go.

"I know nothing. Now I need to concentrate on getting us into Europe."

Aguero impressed in Sunday's 4-0 defeat of Espanyol, scoring twice and creating the other goals for strike partner Diego Forlan and Maxi Rodriguez.

It gave Atletico only their second win of the La Liga season - but moved them out of the relegation zone.
