Serena Williams marked her 200th grand slam appearance today with a routine 6-3, 6-4 win over Roberta Vinci, of Italy.

In a familiar story, Williams simply had too much power for the world No53 and remained aggressive throughout to reach the fourth round in just 67 minutes.

Williams, who seemed somewhat surprised at being asked to play on Court Two today, said: "I'm happy to have gotten my match over.

"Court Two is not a court for Roger Federer but it seems a court for me - then again, I haven't won Wimbledon five times.

"I guess winning twice here is not enough but I really enjoyed the court. It had the Hawkeye challenge system and it worked for me. I actually really liked it."

Williams's post match press conference was dominated by questions regarding Michael Jackson's death from a heart attack last night and the 27-year-old recalled her meeting with the pop icon.

She added: "I think any celebrity who met Michael Jackson was completely in awe. I know I was. So for me he was the celebrity of all celebrities.

"Words can't express my shock and horror. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family."

Williams will next play Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova, who was a convincing 6-4, 6-3 winner against Japan's Ai Sugiyama.

Elsewhere, No4 seed Elena Dementieva beat fellow Russian Regina Kulikova 6-1, 6-2 while No7 seed Vera Zvonereva, of Russia, was forced to withdraw before her match against France's Virginie Razzano due to an ankle problem.
