Tounge-tied Poulter keeps on twittering

Golfer Ian Poulter went twitter crazy over his recent outing to SW19. Last year's Open runner-up provided regular updates and his spelling got visibly worse throughout the day, presumably thanks to sinking a few drinks alongside the best man at his wedding. This picture was captioned: “We managed to acquire the barteneders ties from Wimbledon. Standing outside the front entrnace for centre court.” His next entry read: “Sorry for the spelling mistakes had a few, tired, jet lag, we're not all perfect. just trying to keep you guys in the loop.” Fair enough.

Court of chaos just like home for Sela

Unfortunate quote of the day was uttered by Isreal's Dudi Sela after the world No46 lost in straight sets to fourth seed Novak Djokovic amid much flag waving and chanting out on Court No3. Given the ongoing tension in the Middle East, Sela did not, perhaps, use the choicest of words when playing down any suggestions the atmosphere contributed to his defeat. He said in all candour: “To tell you the truth, I wanted to play on that court. I like it when there is a lot of chaos going on around the court. It reminds me of Israel.”

Snubbed Jamie's feeling locked out

Brotherly love appears in short supply in the Murray family at present. Andy has splashed out £5million on a six-bedroom mansion in Oxshott, Surrey but while girlfriend Kim Sears was pictured unpacking boxes, Jamie has not yet been invited. To compound that snub further, Jamie was not given a ticket for Andy's fourth-round match against Stanislas Wawrinka last night and had to use his player's pass to get onto Centre Court. He told the BBC's Clare Balding: “He's got a nicer house than mine but he's clearly shutting me out of his life!”

* The local Pizza Express has a statue of Andy Murray made entirely of pizza dough. Diners can leave messages of support in a visitors' book so, should he fall short, expect several quotes of Homer Simpson's trademark cry.
