'Fanatics' keep Lleyton Hewitt firing

Lleyton Hewitt will attempt to turn back the clock with the help of his "fanatics" in the crowd against sixth seed Andy Roddick in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.
The 2002 champion, having overcome a hip injury that threatened to end his career, is loving every minute of the tournament, especially winning his fourth-round match with Radek Stepanek despite being two sets down.

The noise from his supporters has unsettled opponents and they will be filling Court 1 again today with chants that are so familiar to the Australian.

Hewitt said: "It's been a good atmosphere but I'm sure my opponents aren't thrilled about it. But then again, the supporters are not in their face, either.

"I have always been fit enough and hungry enough to keep fighting. Because of the hip, for the last six to eight months I was playing and not feeling a 100 per cent. Then other muscles around the hip would start shutting down and for a period during last year I was concerned."

Roddick defeated Hewitt at Queen's 7-6, 7-6 to highlight how hard the Australian world No56 is battling to regain his former standing in the sport.

Roddick said: "I have loads of respect for Lleyton. Everyone knows he's capable of playing very well on this surface."
