Andy Murray is fearless as he battles for a place in history

Andy has insisted that he had no fear of anyone as he prepared to become the first Briton since for 71 years to play in the men's singles final at Wimbledon.

The world No3 is hoping to go one better than than Henry 'Bunny' Austin who was defeated in straight sets by America's Don Budge in 1938 if he reaches Sunday's showpiece occasion.

First, he has to overcome Andy Roddick on Centre Court this afternoon but he insisted: "I never go on court fearing anyone. If you want to get to the top, you have to think you can win against the best players regardless of where you are ranked, how old you are and your experience.

"I am pleased to be in the semi-finals but this is a tournament I want to win. It should be a very good occasion."

It could be a great day for the Murrays as brother Jamie partners Liezel Huber against ninth seeds Mark Knowles and Anna-Lena Groenefeld in the mixed doubles semi-final.

Murray and Huber were given a walkover when their opponents Lukas Dlouhy and Iveta Benesova pulled out while Knowles and Groenfeld, of the Bahamas and Germany respectively, beat defending champions Bob Bryan and Samantha Stosur 0-6, 7-5, 6-3 yesterday.

Top seeds Leander Paes and Cara Black cruised through to the last four with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Andre Sa and Ai Sugiyama and they will meet 12th seeds Stephen Huss and Virginia Ruano Pascual.
