Zip travel
Evening Standard comment08.01.08
Free bus travel for those aged 11-18 is a privilege that has been abused by some teenagers who treat the buses as a cross between mobile youth clubs and getaway cars for crime.
So it is good news that Transport for London will now require this age group to swipe a "Zip Card" if they want to board a bus.
Travel will still be free, but if there is misbehaviour aboard the culprit will be more easily identifiable and can have their card taken away.
This is a welcome initiative.
