Top Dutch prospect: Tottenham manager Juande Ramos is interested in signing Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg

Robbo set to be left out again

Paul Robinson is set to suffer a further blow to his fragile confidence and be named on the bench for Tottenham's match at Chelsea tomorrow.

The England international keeper was dropped by Juande Ramos for the semi-final first leg at Arsenal in mid-week in favour of Radek Cerny and the club are now targeting Ajax No1 Maarten Stekelenburg as a long-term replacement.

Robinson had appeared to be getting back to his best form before Christmas only for him to lose his way again since conceding four goals in the 6-4 win over Reading two weeks ago. Ramos appears to have lost faith in the 28-year-old and wants to give Cerny a run in the side, while he tries to sign another keeper.

Stekelenburg was a target for Ramos when he was in charge of Sevilla.

The axe has come at a bad time for Robinson with England coach Fabio Capello having just started his new role and with the friendly against Switzerland less than four weeks away.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are still interested in signing either Stewart Downing or Adam Johnson from Middlesbrough this month. And they are closing in on defender Daniel Jarque of Espanyol and stepping up their bid for Arsenal's Lassana Diarra.
