Peter Pan is flying home - in a new Spanish language musical coming to the West End.

The show, which has already been seen by a million people over six years in Spain, is targeted at the capital's Spanish population of more than 20,000.

But it is hoped Peter Pan El Musical will appeal to British fans of JM Barrie's story too.

The musical features a cast of 25, a pirate galleon ship and 14 original songs. Pedro Espadas, a former law graduate, plays Mr Smee.

He said: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us - and for the English people. The story of Peter Pan is an icon throughout the world. It seems like every one of us has a Peter Pan inside - and what boy or girl has never dreamed of flying?"

Spaniards began settling here in the Thirties as a result of the civil war in their own country. But Espadas said: "Our show is quite visual so you don't really need to understand the dialogue."

• Peter Pan El Musical runs at the Garrick Theatre from 28 March to 27 April. A gala performance on 30 March will be in aid of Great Ormond Street

Hospital.
