2012 chiefs ban bottled water at HQ

Matthew Beard, Evening Standard

London Olympic chiefs have banned bottled water at their offices and are likely to install water fountains for visitors to the Games.

The measures are intended to help deliver on the pledge for the "greenest Games ever" and are a boost for the Standard's Water On Tap campaign.

Both the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Delivery Authority now offer staff and visitors filtered water from coolers and jugs of tap water are served at meetings and press conferences.

A ban on the sale of bottles at the Games seems unlikely since sponsor Coca-Cola produces Malvern water.
