Bubble gum bin offers solution to sticky problem

Designer Anna Bullus believes she has solved the £4 million-a-year problem of cleaning chewing gum off London's streets.
The 23-year-old has invented a waste bin made from the gum itself which can be recycled into more bins once it is full.
Ms Bullus, who has researched the recycling process at London Metropolitan University, has received a £7,000 grant to develop her Gumnetic Bubble Gum Bin.
It is shocking pink and attached to lamp posts so people can easily spot it and throw their waste gum into it rather than drop it on the ground.
She said: "The beauty of it is that when the bin is full, you simply remove the whole thing and send it away to be recycled.
"I have shown off my idea at exhibitions and had a huge demand from airports, leisure centres, schools, universities and local authorities, including Westminster council."
