Public asked again on police station closures

Plans to close up to 60 police stations in London are to be put out to fresh public consultation.
The Metropolitan Police Authority admitted there had been "limitations" to the previous three-month consultation with local communities. Many people were also opposed to closing police stations, particularly "iconic" ones.
MPs welcomed the decision to hold further talks. Brent East Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said: "This news gives London's local police stations a welcome temporary reprieve. Any further consultation must be much better publicised. Crime is a top priority for Londoners and it is only right people have a say."
Steve O'Connell of the MPA said the results of the first consultation "illustrated that our communities need more information, about how the services provided in their name operate, in order to understand how they need to improve".
