The newlyweds who died in the Madrid plane crash met while working in shops next door to each other in London, it emerged today.

Ronaldo Gomes Silva, 25, met Yanina Celisdoizoyki, 21 from the Canary Islands, when he was working at Perfect Pizza in Bute Street, South Kensington, and she was working at Oddono's ice cream parlour last year.

Marco Petracchini, who runs Oddono's, said: "[Ronaldo] used to come in to chat her up all the time. They were obviously very much in love."

The couple were married in Brazil on 3 July and were flying to meet Yanina's family when flight JK5022 crashed.

Monir Fahmy, 48, manager of Perfect Pizza, said: "When [Ronaldo] first came to us a year ago, he was working part-time as a driver but everyone warmed to him immediately because of his wonderful personality and great sense of humour."

The couple were among the 153 who perished when the Spanair MD82 plane crashed and burst into flames on take-off from Madrid's Barajas Airport last Wednesday.

Ronaldo and Yanina were a couple who lived intensely their love ... taught us to value the small and simple things ... We feel very lacking! We love you too!

While they were in São Paulo / Brazil, we lived as if we were a family ...

One thing that comforts us is that while they are here, with us, we did everything we could to solve the documentation, know São Paulo ... welcome with all the affection, love and joy that we could!

"I'm sure, Nina and Roni, THE WORLD IS BETTER BECAUSE YOU EXISTED!"

"The news that the gloom of death, the assurance of eternal life comforts ...

kisses from your "brazilian family" Geraldina, Pedro, Renata Marisol and Yuri Ludwig
