We'll sail to greater glory in 2012 say medallists

London's sailing gold medallists returned home in glory today and vowed to win medals in every class in the 2012 Olympics.

Team GB's sailors celebrated their six medals at County Hall with a champagne reception.

Medal winners Ben Ainslie, Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb, Pippa Wilson, Paul Goodison, Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson were presented with bespoke models of their own boats.

Webb, 30, from Barnes - one of the "three blondes in a boat" said that she was looking forward to setting up the 2012 team in November.

She said: "2012 is going to be amazing, not only for our sport but for London. To be there will be the most amazing experience that, as an athlete and a Londoner, you could ever have."

The team won medals in six of the 11 classes in Beijing.

Simpson, from Chertsey, said: "The aim for 2012 is to be in a position to win a medal in every class. It was a huge achievement and we will be looking to build on it."

The British rowing team, who won six medals, two of each colour, were welcomed back in Henley.
