Great shame: Hammaad Munshi stored computer files on grenades and napalm

Terror boy gets two years for storing files

Britain's youngest terrorist was sentenced to two years detention at the Old Bailey today for storing plans of death and destruction in his bedroom.

Hammaad Munshi was 15 when he was recruited into a worldwide plot of Islamist "martyrs".

The grandson of a leading Islamic scholar, he used jihadist websites to download files about making napalm, detonators and grenades for himself, Aabid Khan and Sultan Muhammad.

Munshi, now 18, of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, was convicted at Blackfriars crown court last month of compiling information likely to be useful in terrorism.

Today Judge Timothy Pontius said: "You have brought very great shame on yourself, your family and your religion. I have no doubt at all that you, among others of similar immaturity and vulnerability, fell under the spell of fanatical extremism. Khan in particular took advantage of your youthful naivety to indoctrinate you with pernicious and warped ideas masquerading as altruistic religious zeal."

Munshi will serve his sentence in a young offender institution.

Last month Khan, 23, was jailed for 12 years after being convicted of three counts of possessing articles for terrorism. Muhammad, 23, was found guilty of three similar charges and one of compiling information for terror, and got 10 years.
