I wouldn't vote for Palin says Harman in new gaffe

Harriet Harman was accused of a diplomatic gaffe today after saying she would not vote for Sarah Palin.
The Labour deputy admitted the Republican vice-presidential hopeful was impressive but did not agree with her politics. She said Labour was "most aligned" with the Democrats, despite the Government's officially neutral position.
Her remarks threaten to ignite another row with the Republicans weeks after Gordon Brown upset John McCain by lavishing praise on his rival. The Prime Minister "wrote" an article that appeared to endorse Barack Obama. Mr Brown insisted he admired both men and it emerged he had not read the words put out under his name.
Ms Harman told BBC Question Time last night she thought Mrs Palin "tough", adding: "The Government position is that we don't get involved, but you asked me the question."
Shadow cabinet minister Chris Grayling urged ministers to be careful not to endorse either candidate.

For the first time in a long time I loved Question Time last night. Man hating Harman took a deserved hammering.

Why is that a gaffe? If someone asks her opinion, she's as entitled as anyone else to voice it. (In fact freedom of speech is a right guaranteed in the USA by their constitution!) I can't imagine that many USA voters know who she is, let alone allow themselves to be influenced by what she says.
