Beckhams' housekeeper rejects claims he stole from them as 'nonsense'

DAVID and Victoria Beckham's housekeeper today described allegations that he and his wife stole property from the couple and tried to sell it on eBay as "fabricated nonsense".
Eric and June Emmett were arrested on suspicion of theft on Friday and released on police bail.
Suspicions were raised when memorabilia belonging to the former England captain and his wife apparently appeared on the auction site. Mr Emmett, who answered the door of their home in Nazeing, near Waltham Abbey in Essex, said: "No comment", but added: "What is in the papers is fabricated nonsense. Totally fabricated, 99 per cent of it is totally untrue."
Asked if he denied allegations they had stolen items from the Beckhams, Mr Emmett said: "Absolutely". Mrs Emmett, said she wanted to "clear our names".
A police spokesman said today that officers investigating the alleged theft arrested their son, Gareth Emmett, 25, yesterday evening. He was also interviewed and released on bail pending further investigation.
According to reports, Victoria's parents Tony and Jackie Adams spotted some of their daughter's designer clothes on offer to bidders, along with a pair of Beckham's boots, and then discovered the items were missing from the couple's home in Hertfordshire. The items also included football boots with the names of their three boys Brooklyn, Cruz and Romeo.
A spokeswoman for eBay said they were trying to establish with Hertfordshire police which items were involved in the allegations.
Items auctioned on the website have a clear paper trail back to the seller, she said, making it very difficult to get away with selling stolen goods.
"Anyone stupid enough to try to sell anything that is not 100 per cent legitimate makes a big mistake when they try to do it on our site," she added.
A spokesman for the Beckhams said: "There has been an incident and the matter is in the hands of the police. I cannot comment any further."
On his Facebook page, Mr Emmett describes himself as an "ageing hippy", saying: "Smoked it, swallowed it, never regretted it. (In my former life.)"
He lists some of his favourite activities as "buying Porsche 911s" and "LOADS of retail therapy. Addicted to shoes!!!".
Former Manchester United and Real Madrid star Beckham, 33, moved to Los Angeles with his wife and three sons last year. They divide their time between LA and Hertfordshire.

I know the Beckhams are loaded, but how much is a housekeeper paid?

Amazing eh? If your surname is Beckham, then Ebay get fully involved in sorting out the problem. What a pity it doesn't work if you have a run of the mill surname!

Is this a waste of police time or what? I dont understand the mania for football memorabilia, but surely it cant affect the Beckhams much and I dont see the police lifting a hand if boots are lost from my house! Try getting the police to investigate a real break and enter burglary at your place!
