THE London Film Festival kicks off tonight with the premiere of Frost/Nixon just yards from where it was originally staged as a play at the Donmar Warehouse.

The work's original stars Frank Langella, playing American president Richard Nixon, and Michael Sheen as British TV interviewer David Frost, have reprised their roles for the film version directed by Ron Howard.

Both will be at the premiere in Leicester Square with co-stars Kevin Bacon, Toby Jones and Matthew Macfadyen, as well as Sir David Frost himself.

The event begins two weeks of films including free screenings in Trafalgar Square and premieres with stars including Colin Firth, Rachel Weisz, Laura Linney and Josh Brolin.

Directors featuring include Michael Winterbottom, Steven Soderbergh and Oliver Stone. The festival ends on 30 October with Danny Boyle's new film.
