CAPITAL FM'S Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon today took the number one commercial breakfast slot for London.

According to official figures, the 6am-9am show has won 11.7 per cent more listeners since July.

It has beaten stiff competition from Radio 1, Heart FM and Magic FM with 862,000 listeners tuning in every morning. The triumph follows Snowdon replacement of Vaughan's former on-air partner, Denise Van Outen, who quit during the summer.

Vaughan said: "I'm loving working with Lisa, getting up in the morning has never been so much fun! We put so much effort into creating a great breakfast show for London. There simply is no better feeling than when Londoners make you No 1."

Snowdon said "I am absolutely thrilled. It gives me even more reason to get up in the morning knowing we are London's No 1 breakfast show."

The Rajar figures also reveal Heart's breakfast show has pushed Magic from the top slot to third place in the battle for breakfast ratings in London. Heart breakfast's market share has increased by four per cent quarter on quarter and is now listened to by 768,000 people in London.

But Magic continued its overall reign for a seventh quarter with more listeners than any other commercial radio station. The station reached 1.89 million Londoners, representing 17 per cent of the listening audience.

Heart is the top commercial station in London for reaching the highly prized 25-44-year-old audience, achieving almost a million of these listeners every week.

Well done Johnny & Lisa! I've been a loyal capital fan for as long as I can remember and I have to say I prefer Lisa to Denise.
