Crackdown launched on Academy's ticket touts

Evening Standard
21.10.08

THE council is waging war on ticket touts operating around the Carling Academy.

The crackdown focuses on those selling counterfeit tickets or genuine tickets at exorbitant prices.

Undercover and uniformed officers from Lambeth council will be patrolling on the nights of gigs for the next three months, starting with The Mighty Boosh's six-night sell-out run this week.

Council officers will be working with police to disrupt the touts, hand out fines and collect intelligence.

Michael Anderson, Lambeth envirocrime enforcement supervisor, said: "Touts are often the cause for a ticket shortage in the first place. They are making big profits from fans."
