Plagiarism TV doctor quits Maudsley

DISGRACED media psychiatrist Dr Raj Persaud has quit as a consultant at a leading London hospital four months after admitting passing off other people's research as his own.

Found to have acted dishonestly by a disciplinary tribunal following a General Medical Council hearing into accusations of plagiarism in June, he has now stepped down from his role as a consultant psychiatrist for the South London and Maudsley NHS trust.

The move follows talks with the trust this month when he was cleared to return after being struck off for three months by the GMC. A Maudsley spokesman confirmed the departure. Persaud, who spent 12 years at the trust, rose to fame on ITV's This Morning Show with Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan and contributed to newspapers, radio and journals.

The 49-year-old doctor admitted nine cases of plagiarism at a fitness-to-practice hearing.

I'm not suprised that he's gone. I've worked with him and Raj Persaud is an arrogant man and difficult to work with. Yes the mighty has fallen!
