Churchillian victory for London pub
Elizabeth Hopkirk, Evening Standard27 Oct 2008
A PUB in Kensington has been named the best local in the capital.
The Churchill Arms in Kensington Church Street won the award after a poll of more than 5,000 Londoners, organised by Stella Artois.
It has been awarded a £8,500 bursary to improve its local environment.
Three runners up - The Nightingale in Balham, The George Tavern in Stepney and The Punch Tavern in Fleet Street - each won £5,000.

As Steve says, The Churchill is not a bad "pub" in that the beer and service are good. Trouble is, it has crossed the line into being more of a "restaurant" these days which doesn't suit its layout at all. Obviously a money-spinner but an award-winning pub? I don't think so

This was organised by Stella Artois, a drink renowned for it's drinkers more than it's flavour, presumably these pubs are also the top to avoid due to the nature of the clientele?

Although it's not a bad pub it's certainly not worthy of that honour!
