Daniel Craig film caused £85,000 damage to 'pristine' home

A BUSINESSMAN who hired out his "pristine" home for a film starring Bond star Daniel Craig today won more than £85,000 compensation from the production company which damaged it.

Glen Haysman, managing director of Glen Windows and Doors, agreed to let scenes from Flashbacks Of A Fool be shot at his home in Batchworth Hill in Hertfordshire.

He told London's High Court that, in July 2007, extensive damage was caused to the driveway and interior of the detached "retro" style four-bedroomed property, complete with swimming pool and hot tub, which he has owned since 1998. He complained of holes sunk into the tarmac drive by heavy lorries, damaged wallpaper and paintwork, and the loss of a wine decanter stopper.

He said that this affected his peace of mind and dented his pride in the appearance of his home, so that he had not felt able to host annual charity events as usual.

Mrs Rogers Films Ltd admitted that it had breached the May 2007 location agreement, by causing some damage, although it disputed the amount of the loss. It agreed to paying for the bulk of the driveway repairs, all the interior repairs and the £100 cost of the stopper.

Mr Haysman's property will be seen on screen on Sunday, when his back garden will feature in Consuming Passions, a BBC drama celebrating 100 years of romantic publishers Mills & Boon.
