THE historic win is a "victory for the world", Barack Obama's family in Kenya said today.

There were jubilant scenes as relatives partied through the night at his ancestral home. His half-brother Abongo said they wept tears of joy and relief as the win was announced and heard Barack thank his family for their help.

Abongo, 51, who watched live coverage with dozens of relatives on a portable television in their home village, said: "I never had any doubt my brother would do this. This is a historic moment ... for the entire world."

The accountant, who has lived in Washington DC for 23 years, is the eldest sibling and shares a father with Barack. He is on holiday in Nyan'goma Kogelo, western Kenya, with his mother Kezia, who flew in from her home in Bracknell, Berkshire to join Auma, 48, Abo, 40, and Ben, 36, who live in Kenya.

Nature has endowed Senator Obama with great talent and gifted him to America to deal with difficult times. The colour of his skin is not relevant. It is well to remember that Nature is always hunting in the next field!
