Mothers-to-be to skip vital check-ups

PREGNANT women are facing growing pressure to skip checks and cut short maternity leave as the recession bites, midwives said today.
The Royal College of Midwives said women were under "dangerous" stress at work as businesses scale back.
It warned employers not to penalise women who take time off for hospital appointments.
Pat Gould, RCM team manager for London and the South-East, said women working for small businesses were particularly vulnerable.
She said: "Bosses have a duty not to discriminate against women who are expecting."

If the vital checks for pregnant women are skipped due to the recession, this could cause serious problems at the later stage of the pregnancy either for the mother or baby. Then its back to square one! Issues surrounding pregnant women or unborn children should not be toyed with.
