A PREMIER League winners' medal hurled into the Stamford Bridge crowd by José Mourinho after Chelsea won the 2005-2006 title is set to fetch more than £20,000 at auction on Wednesday.

Former boss Mourinho stunned the football world when he parted with the gold medal after his team beat Manchester United 3-0 to clinch the title. F

Fan Sebastian Kayll caught the prize, which is estimated to fetch between £18,000 and £22,000 at the Bonhams sporting memorabilia sale in Chester.

Mourinho throws a large medal in the crowd, no problem. Drogba throws a coin in to the crowd, and suddenly he is the villain !

It's a perverse world in today's Britain where a football 'one season wonder' league winner's medal can command ten times the value placed on a soldier's medal commemorating service at the Battle of Waterloo.

Yesterday's BBC Antiques Roadshow valued such a service medal at £2000 !
