Quo conman is Kent builder

Danny Brierley
18 Nov 2008

A MAN who tricked a council into believing he was Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi is a builder from Kent.

Graham Tumber, 56, conned Dover council by promising that the band would play a free concert at the port. He was given VIP treatment for a year, despite looking nothing like the singer.

His ex-wife Joselyn, 53, said the father-of-one from Dymchurch idolised the band and liked to spin tall stories. She divorced Mr Tumber three years ago after 18 years of marriage. "He's bald, never had a ponytail and has a big moustache," she said. "He couldn't play. And he can't sing. I used to worry that the neighbours would think we were strangling a cat."
