Three offers of £1million for first home of baby Beckham

THE house where David Beckham lived as a baby has attracted three offers of £1million.

The modest three-bedroomed mid-terrace property in Leytonstone is close to a busy dual carriageway and a railway line - and similar houses in the area normally sell for around £250,000.

Local businessman Colin Evans, who is handling the sale, said its owners were weighing up the bids and would make a decision on which to accept later this week.

The first offer for the house, which was advertised on the Gumtree website, was believed to come from an unnamed Australian Beckham enthusiast.

Mr Evans would not say where the two new offers originated.

He discovered the house's history while researching a book on famous people from Leytonstone.

He knocked on the door and surprised the current owners with the news. "At first they weren't too happy, and didn't know if I was telling the truth or not, but they did their own research, found out I was and contacted me," he said.

Mr Evans said the Beckhams lived at the house in Norman Road when David was born in 1975, moving to Chingford in 1977.
