Sex on beach couple to be deported

A BRITISH couple who had sex on a Dubai beach will be deported after their three-month jail sentences were cancelled.

Michelle Palmer, 36, of Oakham, Rutland, and Vince Acors, 34, of Bromley, were given 12-week sentences last month after they were found guilty of having unmarried sex and public indecency.

They were also fined 1,000 dirhams (£155) after admitting being drunk in a public place. But the pair, who have always denied they were having sex, appealed. Dubai's Court of Appeal today cancelled the jail terms and the couple will now return to England.

Their lawyer, Hassan Matter, said: "I submitted a good defence. Michelle and Vince are innocent."

Amir, it is illegal to be drunk in public in the UK as well.

Classic case of not understanding the law. You can drink and not be drunk.

Somehow I had the same experience. I was drunk in Dubai and was arrested there for being drunk in public place when I came back from a pub.
I think there are conflict in their regulation. It is legal to drink alcoholic beverage at pubs however you have to flight from pubs to your place in order not to be in public place!
Personally I will never go in Dubai again and also recommend my friends to find another place for relaxation.
