Chef wants to spend Christmas cooking for you

One of London's leading chefs has put himself up for auction on eBay, offering to cook a Christmas Day lunch for the highest bidder.

David Duverger, head chef of Chelsea restaurant Papillon, will prepare the meal at the auction winner's home.

The 32-year-old has previously worked at two double Michelin-starred restaurants in his native France - La Pyramide Fernand Point, near Lyon, and Le Clos de la Violette in Aix-en-Provence.

Now he is offering to travel anywhere in Britain to prepare a traditional French, four-course festive feast for up to eight people.

After canapés and champagne, the meal will start with foie gras terrine with mulled pear chutney. The second course of braised turbot with champagne sauce will be followed by a main of chicken stuffed with truffles and a winter vegetable ragout.

Dessert will be Bûche de Noël, the traditional log-shaped French Christmas cake.

Duverger said: "It will certainly be a bit different from the roast turkey and cranberries... it could be as much of a cookery class as a meal."

Bidding begins at £800 on eBay with all proceeds going to the chef's chosen charity, Children with Leukaemia.
