Under doctors' care, Mumbai gunman who carried out hospital attack

This is the face of the only gunman captured in the Mumbai terror attacks.

Azam Amir Kasab is seen in an undated photograph released by Mumbai police today, lying on a bed beside medical equipment at an undisclosed location in the city.

Kasab, 21, and an accomplice took part in a lethal killing spree in the busy Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus rail station and are also believed to have attacked a police vehicle at Cama Hospital, killing anti-terror squad chief Hemant Karkare.

He was captured alive on Wednesday night after being shot in the hand during a stand-off with security services. Under interrogation it is understood he said the terrorists intended to kill as many as 5,000 people and were told to target Britons and Americans.

He has reportedly confessed to being trained by militants of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group in Pakistan and told to "kill to his last breath".

Meanwhile, the terror group which claimed responsibility for the Mumbai attacks is threatening new atrocities in Delhi, it was reported today.

Intelligence sources claimed to have received an email from the Deccan Mujahideen, warning of a repeat attack, targeting Delhi's main international airport and three railway stations.

Police in the Indian capital have begun checks on rickshaws after receiving intelligence that the three-wheeled vehicles would be used in a bombing campaign.

It's a good job this vile scum isn't British or we would have that stupid Chakrabati human liberty woman campaigning to have him brought here and given a five star prison cell and have the prison spend 10 grand a year on special muslim food for him. Then after 2 years she would campaign for his release

India should break all diplomatic relations with Pakistan. Pakistan is a failed state that will implode by itself. Talking to Pakistan is a complete waste of time.

Why can't the muslim extremists bomb Southi Arabia? That is the country which hosted US in Iraq invasion? Why is always the target of hatred goes to other religion? Why can't they correct their owns'?

Hatred has no bound. Once one learns it, it goes on forever in every direction, until it kills all. That's what the abrahamic religion did all of the history - Christian hate Jews, Muslim hates Chritsians, so on goes in cycle. Look what the narrow tribal teachings can do to the world? What is the teaching?: oh only we have the correct path, only we have the true revalation, only we .. we ... we...!!

The civilised world will treat this thing as a human bieng and will ensure he is well treated and gets all the medical care he needs, he will also get a fair trial and be represented by lawyers.
Some say he should be treated in the same way he treated his victims, but we are civilised , and he and his sort are little more than ignorant animals, and we should never stoop to there level.

Other countries are willing to help, hope the Indian government will accept the offer. This can't go on. Firm action needs to be taken, otherwise innocent citizens suffers. Don't wait for your close family to be killed before action are taken. What a life!we are supposed to be civilised people.

These people would like nothing more than a war between India and Pakistan. Terrorists thrive in the chaos. So do the governmental 'hawks'. They don't need an excuse to stir up all the trouble they can. If that guy wasn't there then they'd stick to the original claims about Kashmir.

I predict some serious military escalation in the region unless some sober, intelligent, and certainly non-partisan thinking takes a hold of the powers that be.

Bet you they soon announce that he died of his injuries...

The Indian authorities should never have admitted they captured a live terrorist. As far as the world should know they should have said that all had died. Then they could have used this low life to provide information to track down the master minds. Now they will face further 'reprisals' for keeping him prisoner.
