'Most wanted cash in transit robber' held arrested

One of London's most wanted robbery suspects has been arrested following a CCTV appeal in the Standard. Peter Dixon, 29, is being questioned today in connection with 12 "cash in transit" raids.
Officers swooped on an address in Peckham yesterday and arrested Dixon after a tip-off. Detective Chief Inspector Terry Wilson of Barnes Flying Squad said: "As a result of the appeal in the Standard we got some intelligence which led to an address."
Security van robberies are on the rise and more are expected over Christmas.
In September, 27 CIT offences were reported, 45 in October and 53 in November. Detective Superintendent Bob Cummings said: "The credit crunch will have an impact on crime."
In a 24-hour blitz police raided 16 more addresses and arrested 14 suspects. Four have been charged.
