Hit-and-run driver hunted
MARK BLUNDEN3 Dec 2008
Police today released a picture of an 11-year-old boy killed after being hit twice in a hit and run smash outside a branch of Ikea.
As the driver who hit him sped off, Michael Richard Martin McDonagh, known as Richie, was then hit by a second car on the North Circular in Wembley, on Saturday. Richie, from Neasden, died later in hospital.
The boy had been on a pedestrian crossing when the first car, believed to have been a BMW, hit him down at 7.20pm on Saturday. The driver drove off towards Brent Cross but the second motorist stopped. Witnesses should call 0208 998 5319.

This is so sad, and to happen so close to Christmas. My sympathy to his family and friends.
I find so many drivers get reckless and speed up on approaching crossings so the pedestrians don't cross. Half probably don't even have insurance/licences.
I hope they find the first driver, who never even had the decency to stop after taking such a young life, but I doubt he will get more than a £500 fine even when they do.
