Auction raises £71,000 with six days to go

EVENING STANDARD readers have bid more than £71,000 in our charity auction.

The astonishing total comes after five days of bidding -and with six days to go to secure victory.

The most sensational of all the lots is still the most in demand: a trip to New York with Sir Philip Green and Kate Moss to the opening of his first American Topshop. A fierce bidding war has driven its price to £10,100.

But other lots are seeing fierce competition, with dozens battling for the chance to go to Versace's Milan show including backstage access, the best seats in front of the catwalk and a gown by the designer to take home.

Tailoring for men is also proving popular. The price of a personal fitting by Sir Paul Smith for a bespoke suit has almost tripled in 24 hours.

The auction is to support the work of Greenhouse, the charity which gives disadvantaged London children hope with sporting opportunities and performing arts programmes.

The top lots are:

1. A shopping trip to New York with Kate Moss and Sir Philip Green £10,100

2. Backstage pass and the best seats at Versace fashion show in Milan £3,200

3. Table tennis with Michael Sherwood and Chris Blackhurst £3,100

4. Meet Roland Mouret in Paris £1,600

5. BA club class tickets to New York £1,555

6. Paul Smith suit fitting £1,550

7. Paramount Club membership £1,220

8. Flights to Los Angeles with Virgin £1,060

9. Dinner with Charles Clarke, Hazel Blears and Anne McElvoy £1,020

10. Family portraits with an Evening Standard photographer £1,000
