Tycoon who lost wife will enter politics to fight terror

A LONDON fashion tycoon today announced plans to enter Indian politics to fight terrorism after his nephew and his wife were killed in Mumbai.

Hiro Harjani, who lives in St John's Wood, is flying to his native city to fetch their children, who he plans to adopt.

Mohit Harjani, 32, and his wife Lavina, 28, were dining in the Oberoi Trident hotel when they were shot dead in last month's massacre of nearly 200 people.

The Dubai-based couple had been visiting their home city with their sons Amar, nine, and Dev, three.

Mr Harjani, 47, who owns the Aftershock brand, worn by Madonna, and has 70 shops, blames India's government for failing to tackle terrorism. He said: "There have been 20 attacks in India in 15 years, but the government has done nothing to improve security."

He has set up a movement called Wake Up India. "We cannot go on as before," he said. "The Pakistani government is not in control of the country. We need joint action to take these terrorists out, even if it means Indians acting with Americans and Israelis. I'm a peaceful person and I hope this will not lead to war. We can't allow these terrorists to win."
