Carers go into schools to protect children
Tim Ross, Education Correspondent11 Dec 2008
SOCIAL workers, GPs and psychologists will be based in schools under plans designed to protect children from harm.
Ministers announced a £200 million fund to bring together health, education and children's services under one roof to help spot pupils' problems earlier. Children's Secretary Ed Balls also launched a taskforce to investigate how social work should be reformed to prevent another tragedy like Baby P's.
He said schools in the 21st century would allow families to access a range of services in one place.
The cash will fund up to 100 schemes across England.
Moira Gibb, chief executive of Camden council and a former social worker, will chair the taskforce. It will review every aspect of the profession and develop a major programme of reform.
The taskforce will examine how social workers prioritise their time, whether they receive adequate support from managers and how to make sure there are enough of them "on the front line".
It emerged yesterday that 210 children had died as a result of abuse in a 16-month period in England alone.
Among them were 21 babies but only two were known by social workers to be at risk.

Baby P, and the other unamed infants who have died this year and the many years before had never reached the age of a school attendant nor ever will because the evil mother's cannot get up in the morning to get their broods ready for a life let alone and education or a playschool!!
More thinking on this one Mr Balls.......Perhaps you could arrange for these so called authoritarians ( social workers, doctors, teachers. police )to actually show concern for a child when the mother is first arrested so as not to allow the woman home again to enjoy her internet social life till she has done 3000 hours of community hard work.........Or perhaps just lock her up till she understands what she has actually done!!
Baby p was SEEN by all 60 TIMES!!! You must change the thinking of these misfits by understanding that they were careless in their assment of this childs situation!
Till that time comes you will not be able to save babies from being the victim of evil parents.........Or is this new aganda for the ones who survive the infant years to reach school age??????
