Brixton, Shoreditch worst black cab spots in capital
22 Dec 2008Brixton is the worst place in London to hail a taxi, according to research.
It takes an average of 10 minutes for a black cab to go by in the south London district, while it takes nearly as long in Shoreditch and Peckham.
The hardest places to get a taxi in north London are Finsbury Park and Tottenham, where it takes nine minutes on average.
Cabs in the City and West End can be hailed, on average, within five minutes. Other areas that have plenty of cabs include Victoria and Westminster.
The research, by Stella Artois, was conducted for the Get Home Safe initiative promoting safety at night over the festive period. It found Britain will spend £857m a week getting home over Christmas.

I wouldn't even walk throught the place at night - much less look for a taxi.

Er...it's difficult to hail a taxi anywhere on a Friday night. Why is it so easy in other large cities like New York and Hong Kong but not London?

So? I have never seen anybody getting an official taxi there. I guess it is about safety.

I've noticed recently that Black taxis have become cheaper than mini cabs. I rarely have trouble getting one.
