Going nowhere: there has only been one offer for the seven-bedroom Belgravia home in four months

'A snip at £20m' but it won't sell

THE ex-wife of Swedish sports tycoon Johan Eliasch today described the frustration of being unable to sell her £20million Belgravia home.

Amanda Eliasch has been trying to sell the seven-bedroom house for four months after divorcing her husband two years ago. But she said her former husband has rejected the only offer on the house because of the current property climate.

Mr Eliasch, a former Tory party treasurer who quit to become an environmental adviser to Gordon Brown, was married to Amanda for 21 years and they have two children. Mrs Eliasch, the granddaughter of the late St Trinian's film director Sidney Gilliat, said: "Johan's view is that he doesn't want to sell because you can trust bricks - and at least you can see them. And because there is nowhere safe to put the money."

The 5,500 sq ft house is near the homes of Baroness Thatcher and Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich. The master bedroom has been decorated like a boudoir in purples and pinks. Speaking about the property she said: "It is a snip at £20million."

What a silly, crass women Amanda Eliasch is. Someone so lacking in sensitivity in the current economic climate deserves to be ridiculed for her stupid comment.
