Trouble: the Mayor is accused of prejudging the outcome of a police investigation into Damian Green

Boris: I welcome Green leaks inquiry

BORIS Johnson said he welcomed the prospect of a "swift and proportionate" inquiry into his role in the Damian Green leaks investigation.

London's Mayor is accused of prejudging the outcome of a police investigation into Mr Green, his friend and colleague.

The Greater London Authority has ruled there should be a joint inquiry with the Metropolitan Police Authority but will not refer the matter to the Standards Board of England.

Mr Johnson admits he discussed the case with Mr Green. He also told a meeting of the MPA, which he chairs, he believed his friend would be cleared.

London's Labour group leader Len Duvall claimed it was a "serious breach of the codes of conduct".

He said the Mayor should not have revealed information given to him privately by senior police officers.

A spokesman for Mr Johnson said he looked forward to "a swift and 'proportionate' inquiry - hopefully at minimal expense to the London taxpayer".

Mr Green was arrested in November by police investigating leaks of Home Office information to the media.

Well at least the Home Sec didn't know what her policemembers were doing when they did the dirty deeds. No wonder they wanted 42 days.

Remember Ian Blur was upset over being kicked out 'cos he thought Labor Zanulabor/ Home Office would protect him for looking after their interests...?

His fault for discussing the case to mr green.

The police are right to investigate Boris, who has shown time and again what a shady, underhand politician he is.
The Tories created the whole problem and they have to dig themselves out of it. It is nothing to do with the labour Party at all

the police are too far up the skirts and kilts of noo- labour to let this go and get on with the job they are paid to do. a major clearout is needed with the top cop being elected by the rate payers.

You can't keep a good socialist down can you?. Is the complainant, Len Duval, the very same socialist cronie of Livingstone who was comprehensively rejected by his own Labour constituency votors at the 2004 London Assembly elections?. Hey but never mind what the votors thought of Duval he could always rely on his old mate Livingstone to keep him in the style to which he had become accustomed to at the taxpayers expense. Within days of his rejection Livingstone used his authority to appoint him, without any consultation, back onto the board of the MPA as an unelected member. His salary of course was picked up by the taxpayers of London who had already rejected him at the elections. Such loyalties are never forgotten. Fast forward to the 2008 London Assembly elections and Duval is further rewarded by being given the safe Labour seat of Greenwich. He is now repaying his debt to Livingstone by acting as his unofficial mouthpiece on the Assembly, and will no doubt take every opportunity to try and dig up anything that he believes may damage Boris and his Conservative administration. Stand up to them Boris.
