A TEAM of London doctors conducted blood tests on themselves on the summit of Mount Everest in an attempt to develop new life-saving treatments.

University College medics carried out the "fascinating" tests at -25C in a 20-knot wind after climbing the world's highest mountain. It is hoped the findings will help patients with cystic fibrosis, emphysema or septic shock, and babies with hypoxia - low oxygen. Dr Mike Grocott said: "It helps us to understand how patients adapt."
