Queen's Brian May to join We Will Rock You

Louise Jury, Chief Arts Correspondent

GUITARIST Brian May is to appear in the London musical We Will Rock You on Saturday.

The musical achieved the highest number of paid admissions in one week for any West End show last year when more than 20,000 tickets were bought in the six days from 29 December.

May, 61, who co-created the musical with Queen drummer Roger Taylor and comedian Ben Elton, intends to join the cast for both of this Saturday's performances after recovering from a flu bug.

Writing on his website, May said: "I've promised to go in on Saturday to the Dominion to have a day with our brilliant London We Will Rock You team there, it's been too long. I usually try to keep it casual, because really it's all about me bonding with the cast and band and crew, and sharing a little bit of their load, but I always get stick from people saying 'You didn't tell us you were going to be there!'"
