Ramsay's No1 curry house is rescued

GORDON RAMSAY'S favourite Indian takeaway, The Bombay Bicycle Club in Battersea, was today rescued from the brink of collapse.

Anoup Treon, an entrepreneur who runs nursing homes operator European Care, bought Bombay as well as the Tiffinbites and Vama curry chains, saving 400 jobs in London and the South-East.

Gourmet Restaurants, the parent company of the three chains, faced calling in administrators.

Tiffinbites has a strong presence in the City, taking over canteens on "Tiffin Wednesdays" to serve curries to bankers, but has struggled in the downturn.
