‘Bounce’ ends as confidence in brown falls
Joe Murphy26 Jan 2009
Public confidence in Gordon Brown's handling of the economy has nosedived, a poll revealed today.
Labour has slid below 30 per cent — and is 15 points behind the Conservatives — while voters increasingly distrust the Prime Minister to steer Britain to recovery.
The findings will douse speculation about an early election. If mirrored in votes, David Cameron would stroll into No 10 with a 120-seat majority. But Mr Brown and Alistair Darling are still slightly more trusted on the economy than their Tory rivals, which will give comfort to No 10.
The ComRes poll in the Independent put the Tories up four points to 43 per cent with Labour down six to 28 per cent. Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrats were unchanged on 16 per cent. It marks an end to the “Brown bounce” that saw the Prime Minister improve his ratings in the autumn by announcing a stream of decisions to counter the banking crisis.

I am surprised the margin is so small. I would have thought that any sensible person, would have recognised the fact that this country, does not resemble anything that it used to ten plus years ago.

With regards to the comments made by Mr Clarke about the UK economy, possibly correct and more in line with the analysis of the OECD and IMF rather than the 'Navel Gazing' by Mr Brown and his 'Economic Advisors'. "Fantasy Island" is more like it.
I hope that this economic mess bottoms-out later this year or sometime in 2010 going by the past two major recessions of the early 1980s and the early 1990s. Mr Bown 'Cooked Labours Goose' a long time ago when St Tony of the BLiar left him with this toxic Chalice called 'New Labour (Its really Old labour with arms, heads, tails and wings attached).
So, as is often said... 'Those who the Gods wish to destroy, first they make mad!" - will certainly apply to Mr Brown Premiership. Possibly the worst, including Mr Blair's since WW2. I predict that soon Senior Labour figures, including Cabinet members, will soon break-ranks and 'spill the beans' on what is really going on. (as if we didn't know already).
This Labour Government's policies have been based on nothing but 'Smoke and Mirrors' ever since 1997.

Brown has never listened to the public before, so don't ecpect him to listen now. He is a party politician first & foremost and will cling on to power as long as he possible can. He's our Mugabe, and whoever voted for Labour at the last election (and althoug he wasn't elected, you were warned when you were told "vote Blair & get Brown) must take full accountability for the situation we're now in.

This man has forced his way into the role of Prime Minister - He has no mandate, has a track record of poor judgement, terrible interpersonal skills and the most un-inspiring public speaker and politician around - A true democrat would call an election - If he has a shred of what Obama has he would face the public so we can tell him once and for all - Please leave - NOBODY WANTS YOU!

Unfortunately Mr Brown will not hold a general election until the last possible minute.
This will allow him yet more time to continue dismantling the UK as a viable country.
His inveterate hatred of the Tories has blinded him to his honourable duty, and that is to fall on his sword.
