The top dogs: Kate Winslet and Millionaire film cast scoop more awards

British Oscar hopes received a boost today after huge successes at the Screen Actors Guild awards.
Slumdog Millionaire picked up the title of best cast while Kate Winslet triumphed for her role in The Reader.
The 33-year-old actress said she was “lost for words” as she picked up her award for best supporting actress in Los Angeles.
Her accolade comes on the back of successes at the Golden Globes, where she picked up two awards, and the Critics' Choice Awards. She is also nominated for both an Oscar and two Baftas.
Almost repeating her gushing performance after her double victory at the Golden Globes, Winslet panted through her speech at the Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium last night.
Dressed in a striking violet Narciso Rodriguez gown, she said: “Wow, what a year it has been in movies.
“I just want to say that it's really an honour to be included in what I think is such a remarkable year and to be acknowledged by my peers in this way.
“I really feel like everybody should be given a medal, I have to say that because I really believe it to be true.
“I'm a bit lost for words, I'm sorry.”
The stilted speech was a slight improvement on the one delivered at the Golden Globes where she struggled to speak, apologised to her fellow nominees for winning and asked: “Is this really happening?”
Meanwhile, Slumdog Millionaire continued its barnstorming start to the year by picking up the award for best cast.
Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor dedicated the accolade to the child stars of the Danny Boyle-directed movie.
“They deserve this award. It is the children that have done it, not us,” he said.
Slumdog Millionaire also has 10 Oscar and 11 Bafta nominations.
