More women than ever are suffering from depression and anxiety, figures reveal today.
A snapshot survey of the wellbeing of the nation showed that one in five women had mental health problems. Findings published by the Government's NHS Information Centre reveal that rates of such problems among women have risen by more than two per cent over the past 14 years, while for men they have not changed significantly.
Experts at the University of Leicester analysed the results of the survey of 7,461 people in England aged 16 and above.
