Knebworth is back with 2-day festival

09.02.09

Knebworth House is to be revived as a major festival venue this summer when it stages the European leg of rock event Sonisphere.

The Hertfordshire stately home became synonymous with rock music after Queen's last gig with Freddie Mercury in 1986 — and two massive shows by Oasis in 1996. Now it will host heavy metal band Metallica, which is set to headline the new Sonisphere festival on the weekend of 1 and 2 August, with a capacity of 60,000 each day. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, costing £125.
