Mother introduces her eight miracle babies to the world

Nadya Suleman showed off her octuplets to the world for the first time today.

In an interview with NBC's Today programme, Miss Suleman, 33, is shown walking from incubator to incubator introducing her children.

“Hi, Maliah, your eyes are open,” she said, putting her hand on the head of the baby before moving to the next infant. “This is Noah and he's doing well. He's blond, the only one with blond hair.

“Hiya, Jonah ... this tiniest one was the troublemaker,” she said gently stroking the child. “This is Isaiah, he's getting bigger, he's starting to recognise my voice.” Next was Nariah. “I wish I could be here all day,” Miss Suleman told the infant.

“This is Jeremiah,” she continued. “He's on lights for jaundice.” Then it was, “Hiya, McCai,” and “Hi, Josiah, I wish I could stay all day long, but I can't.”

Miss Suleman, who already has six children aged between two and seven, says to the babies: “Your brothers and sisters at home want to see you ... I can't wait until they're all together. We are not a whole family.”

The six boys and two girls weighed between 1lb 8oz and 3lb 4oz when they were delivered at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Centre in Bellflower, California, after being born prematurely two weeks ago following IVF treatment.

Miss Suleman, whose older children were conceived using the same sperm donor, insisted: “It is my choice to be a single parent.”

She lives in a three-bedroom house outside Los Angeles with her parents and has no visible means of financial support.

Today, her mother Angela criticised her daughter saying her actions are “unconscionable”.

“She really really has no idea what she's doing to her children and to me,” said Mrs Suleman on news website RadarOnline.com. “She already has six beautiful children, why would she do this? I'm struggling to look after her six. We had to put in bunk beds, feed them in shifts and there's children's clothing piled all over the house.”

Its nice that she believes she can do it on her own. DON"T TEAR HER DOWN BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO TRY. Shes obviously proud of her babies. And not many willing to hav children... I support you 100%.

And just how will she support 14 children? I agree with Richard, and would also add incredibly selfish on her part. They are as you say Realist, lovely looking children.

Leave the women alone. Why don't we try to help her out instead. The kids are already borned and needs to be accepted as part of this lady's life. I seriousely thinj it will be better to try to help her. What about other people that have more kids... Are they being punish like this? i don't think so...

I don't thinks she's that silly - nor is the mystery person who paid for the 8 embryos to be implanted - I bet if she's canny she'll make enough from the story to keep them all in a certain style . . .

Completely and utterly irresponsible behaviour, no father in sight and 14 children to an unmarried woman. Has the world gone totally mad!!!

If she wants all those kids, more power to her. All these selfish up right people any having any kids need to keep their selfish opinions to themselves. She looks like a women that will have enough love for all her babies and they will bless her life. I would never want 8 kids, cause I am selfish but not mad at her.
